NOW Yearbook 1984

The second instalment in our ‘Yearbook’ series

‘Now – Yearbook 1984’ celebrates one off the most successful and iconic years for singles ever… with the decade’s four biggest sellers all released this year. Released on standard 4-CD, a special edition - featuring ‘hardback book’ style packaging and a 28-page booklet featuring track by track annotations and stats, a quiz and a synopsis of the year in pop -  and a selection of tracks on triple translucent blue vinyl.  The CD versions offer 78 tracks including #1’s from George Michael, Duran Duran, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Chaka Khan, Lionel Richie, Wham! and Paul McCartney – alongside timeless tracks from Sade, Grandmaster Flash & Grandmaster Melle Mel, Tina Turner, Elton John, The Police and Billy Joel. Blockbuster films in 1984 provided massive hits from Ray Parker Jr (Ghostbusters), Giorgio Moroder & Philip Oakey (Together In Electric Dreams), Limahl (Never Ending Story) and two smashes from ‘Footloose’ from Kenny Loggins (Footloose) and Deniece Williams (Let’s Hear It For The Boy)……

‘Yearbook 1984’ also celebrates the synth pop hits that defined the sound of the era, including essential tracks from Eurythmics, Bronski Beat, Ultravox, David Sylvian, Howard Jones and Nik Kershaw – and the dance classics that sound as fresh today as they did then – including The S.O.S. Band, Rockwell, The Pointer Sisters and Womack and Womack…

The CD concludes, as the years #1’s did, with Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ – at that point, the UK’s biggest selling single ever..
